How to Remove an Automatic Transmission Shifter on Dodge Charger?

Start by removing whatever is keeping you from reaching the shift lever assembly and cables. Should you need to, remove the bolts attaching the shield covering the gearshift and park lock cables to the floorpan and then take off the shield. Put the vehicle into PARK, then unplug the transmission shift cable on the shifter knob at the shifter assembly bracket. Disconnect the shift cable retainer (2) from the notch found in the shifter assembly (2). With the key placed in LOCK, remove the park lock cable from the shifter mechanism cam and the notch in the shifter assembly.
