Start the installation of the shift cable by lowering the gearshift cable (1) through the dash panel down to the shifter assembly from the engine compartment. Once that's done, stick the grommet (2) onto the dash panel and hold the gearshift cable retainer (2) into the notch (2) in the shifter assembly. Place the gearshift cable onto the moveable pin on the shift lever and if necessary, loosen the screw used to adjust the cable length. Proceed by threading the gearshift cable (1) under the air conditioning lines and heater hoses (2) up to the transmission (3) manual lever and then lift the car. Turn the propeller shaft to see if it rotates; if so, adjust the transmission manual shift lever until it shows the PARK system is on. Take the gearshift cable and pass it through the bracket, then hook the cable eyelet onto the manual shift lever on the transmission (3). Adapt the suspension so that part of the front bumper just touches the ground, put the shifter into PARK and then tighten the adjustment screw (5) to 7 Nm (65 in.lbs.). Check the gear shift is operating well and need to bolt the shield covering the gearshift and park lock cables to the floorpan if required. Lastly, put in the floor console when it's required.
