How to Service and Repair Front Brake Pads on Dodge Charger?

Start by raising and propping up your vehicle to service and repair the front brake pads. Take off the wheels altogether by removing the nuts and the whole tire and wheel assembly. When necessary, lift the caliper piston slightly by hand and slide the rear of the caliper out along the guide pins to give more room for the removal of the caliper. After that, hold the guide pin still and turn the bolt to remove the lower caliper guide pin bolt. Push the caliper upward and watch that you do not stretch or over-extend the brake hose. Pull the brake pads off of both sides of the caliper adapter and if there are anti-rattle clips, remove them from the adapter's guides. No matter the brake type, when you're done, wet the parts with some water using a spray bottle, rub gently with a damp cloth and handle any asbestos safely. Check the brake pads to make sure there isn't uneven wear or too much deterioration and check the gap between the wear indicators and the rotors. For intact pads, return them to where they originally went; but, if you see wear, it's best to change all the brake pads in the caliper pair and also alter the ones on the caliper across from them if they are not new. First, holding the wood block against the caliper pistons, squeeze the brake lever so the pads can be retracted fully. After the pads are in, secure the anti-rattle clips once again. Install the brake pads on the caliper adapter, verifying that they are replaceable and then push the caliper guide pins into the adapter. Open the caliper all the way down, so the mounting boss and caliper correspond and use the upper guide pin bolt to secure it with 60 Nm of torque. Place the wheel and tire back in the wheel well, secure the wheel nuts to 150 Nm. Realign the wheels so the body of the car is raised a bit, give the brake pedal a good pump a few times and inspect the brake fluid in the reservoir. You should expect the brakes to work less effectively during the first few uses, so conduct a trial drive on the road.

How to Remove and Replace Brake Pads on Dodge Charger?

Before you can replace the brakes pads, you need to lift your vehicle and secure it properly. After removing the wheel mounting nuts, take out the entire tire and wheel. It might be essential to back out the caliper piston somewhat to make sure the shoes leave plenty of room for easy removal of the caliper from the knuckle. There is usually no need to touch the piston; instead, pull outward on the rear of the caliper while working on the guide pins which will prevent harm to it. Then, protect the guide pin and turn the bolt to remove the top guide pin bolt. Drop the caliper gently to access the brake pads, ensuring you don't stretch the brake hose too far. Get rid of the inboard and outboard brake pads from the caliper adapter. Should the need arise, you can remove the anti-rattle clips from both the upper and lower abutments of the adapter.
