How to Remove and Install the Rear Drive Shaft on Dodge Charger?

Before you remove the rear propeller shaft, put the vehicle on a hoist with the transmission and axle flange positioned level and add alignment marks to the rubber couplers. Take out the crossmember, the exhaust unit at the rear, the heat shield and all bolts connecting the front and rear couplers to the flanges. Remove the center bearing bolts and next, with someone helping, pull the propeller shaft assembly free. When reinstalling, set the index marks properly and make the protruding sleeve fit in the gap. Put in the three bolts along with the washers and nuts and torque them down to 58 Nm. With help, fit the shaft into the axle, install (not torque) the rear flange-to-axle bolts and nuts, then fit it at the transmission side and install (again, not torque) the front flange-to-transmission bolts and nuts in place. Just snap the center bearing-to-body bolts into place for now; don't use torque yet. Tighten the front coupler-to-transmission flange and rear coupler-to-axle flange bolt/nuts to 58 Nm. You should compress the back suspension with jack stands to ride height and attach the center bearing to the body, torquing it to 27 Nm. After that, place the heat shield, rear exhaust system and crossmember back in their slots.
