24 hours must pass after installing the windshield without driving, as early use may harm the vehicle's safety during accidents. Be sure to partially open the left and right door glass before installation, in order to prevent the passenger compartment from being pressurized if a door is slammed shut. Keep urethane and primer off any painted or trimmed surface. If you plan to reuse the windshield, get rid of as much urethane as possible from the glass with a razor knife, so the fence paint is not harmed. Scrape off most of the urethane sealant from the windshield fence, leaving about 1 mm high and add back any spacers that are missing or damaged around its edges. Apply pressure to the bead of urethane until it's about 1 mm thick and then scrape away the adhesive that fell out during application. Use a rubber seal around the top of the windshield and place it in the opening with some help, making sure the windshield is even against the fence. Use a marker to draw on the windshield and fence to help you later, then remove the windshield and put it on a soft space for working. It's important to use a cleaner with ammonia and a smooth cloth to polish both the inside and outside of your windshield. Apply a 25 mm wide band of glass prep adhesion promoter along the edge of the windshield, 5 mm from the outside and wipe until streaks are no longer visible. Apply glass primer 25 mm wide to the sides of each panel, let it dry for three minutes and check it using a flashlight. Prime again where needed. Spray the windshield fence with an ammonia-based glass cleaner and a breathable cloth, then use pinch weld primer to apply around the fence, covering about 15mm, letting it dry for just three minutes and checking that it has even coverage. Place a thin 10 mm line of glue along the edge of the glass, 6 mm away, starting with the bead at the center of the windshield and finish by making the line flat on both sides. With some help, place the windshield over the window opening, guide it with the reference marks and slowly place it onto the windshield fence, getting the rubber seal into position. First, have the windshield touch the spacers on either side of the fence and after that add the side moldings, cowl grille and rear view mirror.
