Making sure the
Radiator draincock is not loosened, do not service or repair the thermostat while the system is hot and under pressure. You can reuse clean coolant by draining it into a container that is clean. You should begin by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery and pumping out the coolant from the radiator until it is level below the
Thermostat Housing. Get rid of the motor's upper radiator hose and heater hose near the thermostat housing and gently unplug the connector from the engine
Coolant Temperature Sensor. After that, take out the thermostat housing mounting bolts, thermostat housing, gasket and thermostat and throw out the old gasket. After cleaning both the gasket surfaces, place the thermostat with the pellet and coil spring at the end closest to the engine. The arrow and air bleed hole on the outer flange should point up into the engine cylinder head's recess groove. Screw in the new gasket and thermostat housing, making sure to hold all the bolts at the same amount of tightness to stop the housing from cracking. After that, connect the hoses to the thermostat housing and restore the electrical connector from the coolant temperature sensor. Once the temperature has dropped, close the radiator draincock and put in the right amount of coolant into the system. Don't forget to run the engine and check all the seals for leaks as it starts up.
