Before working on the clutch assembly, depart the negative battery cable from the terminal. Take off the air intake hose from both the air filter housing and the resonator, drain a little of the coolant and take out the upper
Radiator hose from the radiator and set it where it will not get in your way. After that, take out the radiator fan and its shroud and then the
Serpentine Belt. Take the engine wire harness out of the connector on the compressor clutch field coil at the top of your A/C compressor. Carefully pull the compressor clutch field coil connection and wire lead off the bracket. Hold the clutch plate from rotating and remove the bolt using either a band-type oil filter wrench or strap wrench. Don't pry between the clutch plate and the pulley and bearing assembly to avoid damaging the clutch plate and try not to drop any clutch shims so you can reuse them during installation. Tap gently on the clutch plate with the plastic mallet to make it slide out of the compressor shaft and then remove both the clutch plate and shim. With Snap Ring Pliers 9764 or similar, remove the snap ring that holds the pulley and bearing assembly onto the A/C compressor front and then remove the assembly. Last, use Snap Ring Pliers 9764 or the similar tool to get the snap ring out and remove the front field coil of the A/C compressor.
