Position the
Piston so that the manufacturer's mark is pointed up in the same direction as the piston. Attach the piston rings in sequence as the oil ring expander (5), lower oil ring side rail, upper oil ring side rail, No. 2 intermediate piston ring and No. 1 upper piston ring. Set the side rail in place by gripping the outer end tightly and pressing it between the piston ring groove and the expander, without a piston ring expander. You should start by fixing the lower side rail and the upper side rail remains as the next step. After that, fit No. 2 piston ring first and then slide in No. 1 piston ring. Place the end gap of the piston rings properly and make sure the oil ring expander gap (5) is at least 45° away from the side rail gaps (1, 4), so it is not on the piston pin (3) or in the direction of thrust, since staggering the ring gaps helps control the oil.
