Before working on the instrument panel bulb, first turn off the supplemental restraint system in vehicles with air bags, to rule out any risk of injury or death to you. Unplug the negative terminal of the battery and let the system capacitor stay unused for two minutes. Take out the center bezel lamp unit, press the latch tab and move the hood off the lamp housing. Withdraw the bulb holder from the body of the lamp by pulling firmly on the base of the bulb. Ensure that the bulb you use is compatible in size and type so that it doesn't get too hot or cause damage. Patch the bottom of the center bezel lamp bulb onto the holder, then push it in straight until it clicks in place. Guide the hood over the lamp housing so the latch tab snaps, reinstall the lamp unit inside the instrument panel and then reconnect the battery negative terminal.
