How to Service and Repair a Brake Light Switch on Dodge Intrepid?

Before servicing or repairing the brake light switch, depress and keep holding the brake pedal. Loosen the brake switch by turning it against where the end meets the bracket for approximately 30 degrees and pulling it backward. Take out the wiring harness connector from the switch. Pull the plunger fully outwards before installing the new brake lamp switch to make sure it's in the right place. Connect the brake lamp switch to the wire harness, then place the switch into the bracket as you press the brake pedal as much as you can. Set the index point in the switch on the square pattern in the bracket, put the switch fully in position and rotate it clockwise approximately 30 degrees to lock it securely. Make sure you are careful not to press too hard when installing the brake lamp switch, since it might result in damage. Afterward, cautiously lower the brake pedal until it no longer moves which ratchets the switch plunger back correctly and allows you to test the brake lamps and speed control.
