To begin servicing the parking brake cable, take out the remote ground cable from its stud on the shock tower and isolate it. With the vehicle raised, first release the tension on the adjuster nut near the front of the
Rear Crossmember. First, disconnect the cable connector between the front and intermediate cable and then lower the car. Take the door opening sill cover, kick panel and fuse panel cover off the left end of the instrument panel. Extract the two screws behind the fuse panel cover that are joining the lower instrument panel cover to the mounting bracket, followed by removing the lower instrument panel cover. Remove the wiring harness link from the trunk release switch and cut the park brake release cable from the release handle. Remover the four bolts holding the reinforcement to the instrument panel and take the reinforcement and connector out. Undo the single screw on the lower A/C duct, then work on the two screws holding the fuse junction block bracket to the instrument panel end housing's bottom, after that the two screws holding the fuse junction block to the instrument panel bracket's top edge. Unplug the dome lamp's harness from the fuse junction block and move the whole block to the right and a bit lower while making sure you don't damage the wiring harness. Lift the left rear door opening sill cover, then take out the screw holding the seat belt anchor at the base of the left B-pillar. Take out the carpet on the left part of the passenger area, then remove the two screws binding the front park brake cable retainer bracket to the floor behind that seat. Remove the two screws holding the front park brake cable to the left floor underside and remove the single bolt, then unhitch the front nuts on the park brake lever assembly. Go below the equipped rocker panel under the vehicle and take out the ground wire connector of the warning lamp and keep lowering the assembly, with the front park cable still attached, to remove them from the vehicle. After inserting the rear cable, run the front cable along the left area of the passenger space and set it through the rear hole in the floor pan. Line up the lever assembly after the fuse junction block, set in place the park brake release cable and brake warning lamp wire, tighten the rear mounting bolt at 27 Nm (19 ft. lbs.), followed by both nuts, also pulled tight at 27 Nm (19 ft. lbs.). Guide the park brake cable correctly and fix the two routing bracket screws. Following this, attach the two screws that hold the front park brake cable retainer bracket to the rear floor. Adjust the location of your carpet, replace the front seat belt anchor bolt and fit the rear door opening sill cover into its spot. Place the fuse junction block in a new spot and use the last four screws to mount it to the body, before attaching the lower A/C duct back in place. Attach the diagnostic connector to the instrument panel support, replace it and link the release cable to the handle for the park brake. Similarly, link the trunk release harness connector to the key release switch. Fit the lower instrument panel cover back into place, using the two screws behind the fuse panel cover and then replace the fuse panel cover, the driver's side kick panel and the driver's door opening sill cover. Loosen the car, link the front and intermediate cable connectors, put the parking brake in place and slowly lower the vehicle.
