The first thing to do for ash tray servicing or repair is to shut off and disconnect the negative battery cable. Pull the gear shift center bezel out of the floor console. Apply the emergency brake and place the gear shifter into the Low position. Place a trim stick C-4755 or an equivalent type in the instrument panel and push down to release the snap retainers and remove the ash receiver. If your car is so equipped, pull out the wire harness connectors from the heated seat switches and remove the switches as required. Disconnect the connector from the lighter and take out the whole lighter assembly as necessary. Once finished, take the ash receiver out of the car.

If you have removed and can install the heated seat switches, do that and link wire harness connectors 2 to them in the ash receiver. Then, after removing the assembly, set it into the ash receiver and install connector 3 from the wire harness into the lighter. After that, attach receiver assembly 1 into the instrument panel by gently pushing the housing into place until the sound goes off on the snap retainers. Afterward, place the gear shift center bezel onto the floor console 4. Push the gear shift lever to Park and take off the emergency brake. Finally, connect the negative battery cable once again.
