Dodge Magnum Battery Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix Battery Cables on Dodge Magnum?
    A:
When working on the battery cables, switch off the Ignition Switch and turn off all electrical devices before you start. In the engine compartment, take off the spare tire cover so you can get to the battery, disconnect the cable attached to the negative post and remove the fastener connecting the cable to the right front strut tower. Put the vehicle on a hoist and take out the fastener holding the cable to the transmission housing. After you unfasten the battery cable retaining pushpins, fasteners and routing clips, remove the cable from the engine area as well. Represent the same steps for the back section by flipping the ignition to off, taking off the spare wheel cover, removing the negative cable of the battery and eliminating the present holding the cable to the car frame before you remove the cable itself. For wiring from the battery to the bulkhead on the positive cable, do this after removing the ignition key and uncapping the spare tire cover. To continue, separate the battery negative cable first and the positive cable afterward. Take off the cover on the Power Distribution Center and remove the fixed fastener for the positive battery cable at the back PDC. You need to free the cable from its clips in the back compartment, then pull up on the retainer loops at the front edge of the right front seat and the cushion of the right rear seat. Get rid of the right front and rear door sill trim and the B-pillar trim at the bottom on the right, then set aside the carpet to find the positive battery cable. Separate the cable from the lines it is clipped in at the rear, take the bulkhead poof side insulator out of the way and have someone release the battery positive cable's fastener at the bulkhead. With the ignition off, wheel removal containers removed and the battery negative cable disconnected, hoist the car on the engine compartment so you can get to the positive cable. To get to the positive cable outside terminal, take off the right front Wheelhouse splash shield, then take out the fasteners for both the bulkhead and the starter. Before taking the cable out of the vehicle for the 2.7L and 3.5L, unhook it from the clips at the back of the engine and for the 5.7L, from the routing clip at the back of the starter. Don't forget to mark the cable's route.
  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Battery Cable in the Rear Compartment on Dodge Magnum?
    A:
Before you do any maintenance or repairs on the battery cable in the back, first turn off the ignition and ensure everything electrical is off. Remove the cover over the spare tire to get to the battery and afterwards, disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable 3. Then, open the nut or bolt that fastens the negative cable to the body and get the cable out from inside the car. When installing, fit the negative battery cable into the vehicle and secure it to the body with fastener 4. After that, attach the battery negative wire to post 3 and place the spare tire cover back in position.
