Dodge Magnum Clock Spring Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service SCCM Components Without Damaging the Clock Spring on Dodge Magnum?
    A:
For any maintenance on the Sccm, the entire system has to be taken off the column to protect the Clock Spring pins and guarantee the air bags function properly. Just undo the three fasteners enough to remove the Clock Spring from the Sccm, then secure the screws so they don't move further. Gently lift up on the Clock Spring to take it out of the case. The last screw to remove is found at the six o'clock position on top of the Sccm and it supports either the steering angle sensor under the dashboard, the lower part of the tilt lever assembly attached to the steering wheel or the strengthening strut if you don't have an electric tilt. Should Esp be present, first unscrew the sensor at the six o'clock point and remove the sensor. If Luchs/Esp is not fitted, the plastic insert can come right out of the Sccm when you try to lift it out. To adjust a manual telescoping column, take out the screw at the six o'clock position and the strut. To take the telescoping column apart, eliminate the last screw at the six o'clock area and cut out both the stalk and switch. With the three screws at the bottom of the shroud out, take out the speed control switch and then separate the multi-function switch from the Scm.
