Battery cable in Dodge Nitro vehicles is responsible for the transportation of electrical current from the battery to other internal terminal and hence helping the starter and engine ignition to work. However, with time, they can corrode by oxidation, get warped or damaged making their efficiency and the starting issues difficult to achieve. It is therefore advised to check the Battery Cable frequently so that there are no shocks with your vehicle. Dodge Nitro battery cables usually refer to an intake line positive cable and an exhaust manifold or electrical ground cable. In case of hard starting, symptoms of complete failure to start or otherwise, premium replacement battery cables may be required. These cables are extremely important for proper working of automobiles and hence, their quality should be checked and only the premier quality cables should be used for its replacement.

Dodge Nitro Battery Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install Battery Cables on Dodge Nitro?
    A:
Before installing the battery cables, take off any metallic jewels to avoid injury due to stray battery current. Room the cables in the engine compartment and then secure them to the frame with the 6 battery cable retaining pushpins (6). Secure your negative battery cable to the engine block mounting stud (2) and use the retaining nut (1) to attach it. Connect the battery cable with a black stripe (7) to the Starter Motor's B+ terminal (3) and hold it in place with the retaining nut (4) that requires 13 Nm (115 in. lbs.) of torque. Then, attach the positive cable to terminal B+ (5) in the generator and tight the nut to 14 Nm (125 in. lbs.). Join the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) positive cable (2) to the mounting stud (3) and hold it in place with the retaining nut (1), tightening it so that 9 - 11 Nm (80 - 100 in. lbs.) of force is observed. Press the battery cable assembly routing clips onto the inner fender, put the negative battery cable (6) over the mounting stud (7), set the stud onto the inner fender and stick a socket wrench to it, tightening it to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.). At last, link the positive battery cable (1) and tighten its clamp nut with 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.) force and then join the negative cable (2) and secure it with 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.).
  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix Battery Cables on Dodge Nitro?
    A:
Before fixing or repairing the battery cables, take off any jewelry that might get in the way if the battery current arcs unexpectedly. Right-hand and diesel models are used for left-hand drive gasoline engines the same way. Start by loosening the bolt on the pinch clamp (2) to cut off the connection and separate the battery negative cable. Following that, slide open the pinch clamp bolt and unhook the battery positive cable (1). Remove the negative cable stud (7) from inside the fender's surface and take away the cable (6) attached to it. Separate the cable clips from the fender on the bike's frame. After that, twist off the retaining nut (1) from the Totally Integrated Power Module (3) stud and remove the cable (2) from it. Next, remove the positive battery cable nut (1) from the generator's B+ terminal (5) and remove the cable (2) also. After that, take out the positive battery cable nut from the B+ terminal on the Starter Motor and disconnect the cable from the starter. Get rid of the negative battery cable nut from the mounting stud on the engine block and remove the cable from the stud. Last step, remove all battery cable retaining pushpins (6), fasteners and routing clips, so that the cables are out of the way and can be taken from the engine compartment.
