  • Q: How to install a Battery Tray and TIPM in the engine compartment on Dodge Nitro?
    A:
First, hold the battery tray in place on the engine compartment with the mounting studs on the left inner fender. Attach the battery tray to the inside of the left fender using nuts and please tighten them to 10.5 Nm (93 in. lbs.). Then, fit the TIPM bracket onto the battery tray, push it forward into place and fasten the retaining screws into the tray. Attach the TIPM in the engine area and add each of the seven connections to the wire harnesses. Place the TIPM over the mounting bracket and push it down so that all the mounting clips snap into the mounting tabs. Connect the TIPM positive cable to the mounting stud, follow this with the retaining nut and tighten it to 9 - 11 Nm (80 - 100 in. lbs.). If your vehicle has a gasoline engine, secure the purge solenoid to the battery tray's mounting tab and push it down until it's locked. When it's secured, link the purge solenoid vacuum hose and electrical connector. Put the battery in place and attach the negative Battery Cable. Put the hood back down, put your ignition key in and turn it to the "RUN" position. After twelve seconds, the TIPM begins its data collection from the CCN and PCM. After about twelve seconds, switch the key from OFF to ON twice in a row to check that all vehicle systems are functioning.
