Intake manifold is responsible for delivering air or air/fuel mixture to any cylinder of Dodge Nitro affecting the performance and power of the car. It is provided to achieve maximum airflow using different strategies like Variable Length Intake Manifold (VLIM) to improve the performance of intake tract by varying its length as per the load of the engine. Earlier the material used in Dodge Nitro intake manifolds included aluminum or cast iron but at present times they mainly employ lightweight composite plastic which in turn increases the fuel efficiency and keeps the temperature of air cooler for better combustion. Additional incorporation of sensors within the intake manifold helps in the enhancement of performance with temperature and air flow sensing.

Dodge Nitro Intake Manifold Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install an Intake Manifold and Its Components on Dodge Nitro?
    A:
Place the intake manifold seals first and next, put the intake manifold into position. Attach the intake manifold with retaining bolts, properly tighten them per order and reach an intake torque of 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.) Ensure the Throttle Body is torqued correctly so the throttle plate does not get damaged. After that, install the O-ring in the throttle body-to-intake manifold opening and attach the throttle body to the manifold, using four mounting bolts bolted down to a tightness of 7 Nm (60 in. lbs.). After attaching the electrical connector, put in the Fuel Rail and the EGR tube. Next, put in the ignition coil towers and attach the electrical connections for the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor, Coolant Temperature (CTS) Sensor and ignition coil towers. After the top oil dipstick tube is secure, fasten the Vapor purge, Brake booster and Positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hoses to the engine body. Attach the hoses that hold the coolant, bolt the resonator assembly and air inlet hose and attach the negative cable to the battery finally. You should use the scan tool to do the ETC Relearn function.
  • Q: How to Service and Repair an Intake Manifold on Dodge Nitro?
    A:
The first step is to bleed the fuel system and then take out the negative cable from the battery before starting service on the intake manifold. After that, take out the resonator assembly and air inlet hose and drain the remaining coolant from the cooling system below the coolant temperature sensor position. Remove the ETC connector and pull out the electrical connections of the coolant temperature sensor and MAP Sensors. After that, take off the vapor purge hose, brake booster hose, PCV hose and the ignition coil towers. Get rid of the top oil dipstick tube bolt, the EGR tube, the Fuel Rail and the Throttle Body assembly. After that, loosen the bolts and nuts on the intake manifold retaining plate in the order they were tightened and are removed last.
