How to Service the Fuel Pump and Gauge Sender on Dodge Ram 1500?

Before starting to service the fuel gauge sender, make sure the pressure from the fuel system is released, because it may remain at a constant level. Click the red handle to the right and pull the negative cable from the battery. Following this, disconnect and remove the fuel tank and blast away all dirt and particles near the opening using compressed air prior to removing the fuel pump module. Make a note of where the arrow is on the top of the fuel pump module. Put the notches in the lock ring on the car using the lock ring remover/installer 9340, then attach a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar to turn the lock ring counterclockwise. Replacing the rubber O-ring seal is necessary whenever you service the fuel pump module. Remove the fuel pump module from the fuel tank and double-check that the float arm is not bent as you do so. Then, throw out the old rubber O-ring seal.
