Dodge Ram 1500 Steering Column Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to remove a Steering Column Cover on Dodge Ram 1500?
A:
First, take the opening cover off the steering column from inside the instrument panel. After that, remove the hood release handle from the steering column opening bracket. Lift the small locator tabs and remove the connectors from the steering column opening support bracket. After that, remove the screws that are holding the steering column opening support bracket to the instrument panel. Pull the steering column opening support bracket upward to free the two locating tabs from the steering shaft and take out the bracket.
Q: How to Install and Secure a Steering Column Cover on Dodge Ram 1500?
A:
Cover the lower shroud over the steering column tilt lever and bring it into place so that if the vehicle has an automatic transmission, the gearshift lever boot fits into the opening in both halves of the shroud. After that, slide the upper shroud over the steering column and onto the lower shroud and press the two halves together by hand until they snap together. From the position under the steering column, place the two side screws into the openings on the lower shroud where they will help hold the upper shroud. After that, secure the lower shroud to the column with the retaining screw. The last step is to put on the steering column opening cover.
