The fuel system should be deflated before any work is done on the fuel rail assembly. For this, use the Fuel System Pressure Release Procedure. Connectors for the hose are tightened only by fitting the assembly together, everything is pre-connected. When detaching the fuel rail assembly, avoid putting a bend or kink in the connecting hose. Take off the engine cover, pull out the negative battery cable and detach the air cleaner. After performing the fuel pressure release, take out the throttle body from the intake manifold. Air conditioned cars should have an A/C compressor bracket. Take out the three bolts to remove it. Disconnect the fuel injector connectors, marked INJ 1, INJ 2 and so on and the electrical connector from the intake manifold air temperature sensor without taking out the sensor. Take out the clamp on the fuel rail's fuel tube, slacken the rest of the fuel rail bolts and give the fuel injectors on the intake manifold a good clean. With firm pleasing strokes, rock and draw the two fuel rails apart until everything is clear inside the intake manifold, after which you can remove the entire assembly with attached injectors. Take out the clips holding the injectors to the fuel rail. You should apply just a little engine oil to the O-rings on each fuel injector. After that, place them and the clips onto the fuel rail during installation. Help each injector into its opening on the intake manifold, being careful not to tear the O-ring as you do. Make sure the injectors hit their injector shoulder on the rail before bottoming out on the fuel rail. Mount the fuel rail with the correct bolts, put the electrical connection back on the intake air temperature sensor and join the wires to every fuel injector. Set the A/C support bracket in place if you have it and then join the throttle body to the intake manifold. Reassemble the fuel line on the side of the rail, complete connection of the air cleaner, reattach the battery cable, start the car to check for holes and fit the cover.
