Start by pushing the accelerator down, then hold it by hand and remove the plastic retainer and central wire of the cable from the arm at the top of the pedal. After that, unplug the wire on the cable core at the pedal arms, then remove the retaining clamp on the cable housing at the dash and pull the cable housing to the engine side of the car. Pull the throttle cable knob all the way toward you, then remove the last part of the cable from the throttle lever's pin. Press completely on the release tab next to the throttle body bracket using a small screwdriver, making sure you don't press too hard to stop the housing breaking and then pull the cable housing straight up and away from the bracket. As you remove the cable, fasten the end to the lever pin and for V-8 engines, place the cable so it slides under the cam's plastic component. Push down on the cable to connect it to the throttle body and put the remaining end into the opening in the dash panel, then press it until it snaps in. Then, feed the ball of the cable wire through the opening in the pedal arm and use the plastic cable retainer to hold it in place, aligning the two slots on the retainer with those on the pedal. All done with testing; take one last look at the throttle, then reattach both the air cleaner housing and engine cover without starting the engine yet.
