Q: How to Remove and Service the Bumper on a Dodge Ram 2500?
A:
The first thing to do is raise and support the vehicle to remove the rear bumper. Then remove the license plate and unbolt the plate that is behind it. If the vehicle is equipped with a trailer light connector, you will want to disconnect the electrical connector for the license plate light and the trailer light connector. Next remove the two bolts that run along the front upper edge of the bumper near the ends of the frame. Remove the four bolts that secure the bumper support brackets to the trailer hitch, but, first, support the bumper with an appropriate lifting device.
Q: How to Install a Bumper on the Rear on Dodge Ram 2500?
A:
Connect the trailer hitch pins to the holes in the bumper and align both together before installing the bumper. Place the hitch bolts into the support bracket for a loose fit. Hold the upper edge of the front part against the bolts on the trailer hitch, tighten them to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) and fasten the hitch pin. Attach the reinforcement to the hitch bolts 2 and tighten until you reach 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). Bolts on the left bumper bracket should be torqued to 3 to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) and bolts on the right bumper bracket to the same tension. When available, put together the trailer light and license plate light wires by following the factory connections. Next, attach the license plate to the framework.
