First, release part of the coolant from your car to avoid possible injury while working on the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor. After that, take out the air cleaner assembly and unplug the electrical connector from the sensor. For engines that have air conditioning, utilize a fabricated L-shaped hook from a coat hanger, around eight inches long, to pull the connector slowly; the hook allows you to remove the connector from the sensor, as it's held on without a lock type tab. Once you've disconnected everything, remove the sensor from the
Intake Manifold. Before anything else, install the sensor and fasten it to a 6-8 Nm (55-75 in. lbs.) torque. Then, link the electrical connector to the sensor, paying attention that the connector fits both left and right ways, so you can connect it either side up. Lastly, put the air cleaner assembly back into place and replace all missing coolant.
