Dodge Ram 2500 Throttle Position Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove and Install a Throttle Position Sensor on the Throttle Body on Dodge Ram 2500?
    A:
The location of the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is on the side of the Throttle Body. Start by removing the intake tube from the throttle body. Then, take the connector from the throttle position sensor. Following this, loosen the two TPS mounting bolts and take the TPS off its mount on the throttle body. Make sure the shaft from the throttle body fits into the TPS's socket, allowing you to rotate it by a few degrees; if you can't rotate it, place the TPS with its shaft on the opposite side so the socket tangs are under tension when you rotate it. Add the TPS and tighten the two retaining bolts to 7 Nm (60 in. lbs.) of torque. Following installation, rotate the throttle lever with your hand to make sure the TPS is working freely; then attach the connectors and put back the air tube.
