Dodge Ram 2500 Van Cruise Control Servo Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and install the Cruise Control Servo located under the right headlamp on Dodge Ram 2500 Van?
    A:
The control servo for speed sits attached to the radiator/grille support just under the right headlamp. To do this, first take out the negative battery cable at the battery, then both the engine cover and the air cleaner housing will need to be removed. Following that, break the connection between the servo and throttle body, take out the right headlamp assembly and separate the servo's vacuum hose and electrical connector. Separate the servo mounting bracket screws, then take away the two nuts that keep the servo cable in place on the bracket. Draw the servo and speed control cable sleeve back until the clip is visible and remove it after noting where the servo connects to the bracket. For mounting, fit the servo to the bracket, line up the hole on the cable connector with that of the servo pin and install the clip that holds the cable to the servo. Insert the studs of the servos into the holes on the mounting bracket and add the mounting nuts, turning them to 8.5 Nm or 75 in. lbs. Put the servo assembly on the body and insert two bolts, tightening them to 8.5 Nm (75 in. lbs.) torque. Attach one end of the vacuum line and an electrical plug to the servo and after that, plug the servo cable into the throttle body. Before turning on the engine, shake the accelerator pedal to see if it grabs, then set the engine cover and air cleaner housing with all screws and lastly attach the negative cable to the battery.
