Make a mark across the axle pinion yoke or companion flange and down to the propeller shaft or companion yoke where the equipment will be installed. For Dana axles, take out the bolts that hold the universal joint clamps onto the pinion yoke. On Corporate axles, remove the bolts that secure the companion yoke to the companion flange. Take off the slip yoke from the transmission or transfer case output shaft and take out the propeller shaft. After that, place the slip yoke onto the output shaft of the transmission or transfer case and line up the reference marks on the propeller shaft or companion yoke and pinion yoke or companion flange when installing it. Insert the universal joint into the pinion yoke on a Dana axle and attach the universal joint strap bolts with a torque of 29 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). Attach the companion yoke onto the companion flange for Corporate axles and lug the bolts tightly to 108 Nm (80 ft. lbs.). Lastly, bring the car down.
