For a 2 O2S system, you'll find sensors on the front and back of the catalytic converter and for a 4 O2S system, sensors are placed at the front and back of the mini-cats. It is important not to use grease on the oxygen sensor electrical connector or try to solder its wiring harness, as the sensor draws the oxygen reading it needs from outside the exhaust system through its own pigtail harness. It is important to wait until the engine has cooled before taking out the oxygen sensor, since those parts nearby can get quite hot. Lift and hold the vehicle up, next unplug the wire connection to the O2S sensor and avoid pulling on the wire directly. Unscrew the oxygen sensor using a special sensor tool. Since new oxygen sensors are already coated with anti-seize compound by the manufacturer, no extra compound is needed for installation. Secure your O2S sensor to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.) torque, attach the O2S sensor connector and lower the vehicle after you're done.
