Dodge Ram 2500 Van Throttle Position Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and install the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) on the throttle body on Dodge Ram 2500 Van?
    A:
On the side of the throttle body is where you'll find the Throttle Position Sensor. To start removing it, remove the engine cover and the air intake tube from the throttle body. After that, unplug the throttle position sensor cable connector and remove the two screws attaching the TPS to the throttle body. While fitting, send the throttle shaft end into the TPS socket until you have a couple of degrees of wiggle; if it does not move, turn the sensor so the throttle shaft snuggles up to the opposite side of the socket tangs which will allow the TPS to be securely held by tension when it rotates. Set the two retaining bolts after installing the TPS and tighten them with a torque of 7 Nm (60 in. lbs.). Turn the throttle by hand to sense any binding in the TPS, reattach the TPS electrical wiring, reinstall the air tube and finally bring the cover back into place.
