The first step to servicing or repairing the antenna cable is to cut off the battery negative wire. Take out the end cap on the passenger side of the instrument panel and pull down the glove box. Twist the metal ends of the antenna cable connector apart, instead of pulling the cable itself. Reach in from the glove box to pull the antenna half of the cable past the panel bracket toward the center of the car. Feed the antenna line grommet through the opening in the dash panel and down into the cowl plenum area. After that, take out the cover of the cowl plenum at its lower part by the windshield glass. Unscrew the antenna mast from the antenna body and use a special wrench (Special Tool C-4816) to remove the nut holding the antenna cap in place. After that, lift off the antenna adapter on top of the fender. Drop the antenna and its cable down into the fender's mounting hole through the body and allow them to exit through the hole in the right end of the cowl. To install, pop the antenna into the cowl plenum, run the coaxial cable through the hole in the dash and connect it with the coaxial cable grommet. Pass the antenna body through the mounting hole in the top of the fender, add the setup adapter over it and use the antenna nut wrench to tighten the cap nut to 7.3 Nm (65 in. lbs.). Screw on the antenna mast to the antenna body, tightening the fasteners to 3.3 Nm (30 in. lbs.) and then replace the cowl plenum cover/grille panel. Put the glove box through its opening in the dash panel, make sure the antenna side of the cable goes in the gap between the right instrument panel end bracket and the dash, lock the antenna into that end, fit the two sides of the coaxial connector together, latch the glove box to the instrument panel, slide the passenger bracket into place and place the end cap onto that bracket.
