To service and repair the Transmission Position Switch/Sensor, lift the vehicle, then set a drain pan below the Transmission Range Sensor (TRS). Press the transmission lever in gear selector down all the way, until it reaches the manual amazon low position. Open the wiring connector to remove it and remove the two screws connecting the TRS to the mounting bracket. Remove the TRS straight out of the bracket and then use Adapter 8581 to loosen the TRS mounting bracket in the transmission case and take it off. When installing, first make sure the transmission lever is in manual LOW, next put the TRS mounting bracket into the transmission case and tighten it to 34 Nm (300 in. lbs.) with Adapter 8581. Reach behind the transmission to insert the TRS, making certain the wires on the connector are at the front of the transmission and secure it with the two screws to 3.4 Nm (30 in. lbs.); next, check that the sensors work correctly. Put the transmission manual shaft lever into PARK, reconnect the TRS connector, lower your vehicle and restore the transmission fluid.
