The face angle of the valves varies between 43-1/4° and 43-3/4° and the seat angle is between 44-1/4° and 44-3/4°. During inspection, reconditioning or when a valve is ready to be replaced, always check the spring in the valve. To test, line up the Universal Valve Spring Tester Tool with the 1-5/16 inch point, put the spring over the stud and move the lever to press the tone device down. Rotate the torque wrench until a sound is heard, read the value and multiply that value by 2 to learn the spring force in test length. Toss away any springs that are not fit for use.
