Dodge Ram 3500 Van Brake Booster Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the vacuum brake booster on Dodge Ram 3500 Van?
    A:
The first step to repairing the vacuum brake booster is to pull out the vacuum hoses from the booster check valve and move on to removing the master cylinder. Take out the lower cover on the steering column and remove the knee blocker to get the brake pedal inside the vehicle. After disconnecting the clip between the push rod and brake pedal pin, then remove both the booster mounting nuts. After removing the clips, get rid of the booster along with the booster dash seal. When mounting, lay the seal over the booster and install it on the dash panel by hand tightening the nuts up to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.). Slide the booster push rod onto the pin of the brake pedal and hold it in place with a new retaining clip. Start by installing the knee blocker and lower column cover and then the master cylinder. When you finish, link the booster hose and go through the process of filling and bleeding your brakes.
