To work on the wiper pivot, first take the wiper arms away from the pivot. Open the hood, then remove the screws that connect the cowl plenum cover/grille panel to the cowl top panel at the rear. Place a trim stick or a suitable wide flattool at the end of the cowl plenum cover/grille panel and carefully lift to disconnect the snap clip retainer. As soon as you have it, take out the cowl plenum cover/grille panel from the cowl top. Always avoid touching or squeezing the plastic part in the drive link bushing and only use force on the metal sections next to it to avoid damaging the bushing. After that, take out the wiper linkage drive link by pressing the two screwdrivers into the ball stud to pop the drive link bushing off. Remove the four screws from the pivot mounting flanges to the cowl top panel and pull out the linkage and pivot through the access hole in the cowl top. While doing so, be sure to treat the plastic drive link gently. Remember to do the opposite of what you did to remove the drive link bushing. As you are installing, bind a short 19 mm or 3/4 inch socket on the capped end of the drive link bushing as protection. Use channel-lock pliers to put the drive link bushing back on the ball stud of the crank arm, squeezing from the link and the plate at the same time, keeping pressure off of the plastic bushing. After that, tighten the pivot mounting screws to 11 Nm (95 in. lbs.) and the cowl plenum cover/grille panel mounting screws to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.).
