You should start by unhooking and isolating the negative part of the car's battery. Lose the screw and unbolt the power lock motor from the front door latch first and then take off the door latch assembly. Push down on the motor side that doesn't have the screw hole to remove it from the latch. Replace the entire door latch unit when the power lock motor on a dual side or dual rear door model is not working. If you have a sliding or single rear door, isolate the battery, remove the trim panel and slide your hand into the access hole to unhook the connecting link between the latch and the lock motor. Disconnect the retainer that holds the lock motor's pigtail wire connector and detach the pigtail wire connector from the wire harness running to the door. Loosen the two screws holding the power lock motor mounting bracket to the inner door panel and remove the motor from inside. To mount the power lock motor on the front door, fit it into the latch, lift it upward and hold it in place with the screw turned tight to 2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Put the door latch assembly back in place and connect the negative battery cable. To install a sliding side or single rear door, fit the power lock motor to the inside, secure it with two screws tightened to 10 Nm (90 in. lbs.), reconnect pigtail wire, engage retainer, link the latch, replace inner panel and reconnect the negative battery cable.
