Dodge Ram 3500 Van Tie Rod End Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the tie rod end on Dodge Ram 3500 Van?
    A:
Before servicing or repairing the tie rod end, first get the vehicle up on jack stands. Lose the cotter pin and retaining bolt from the tie-rod end ball stud and detach the tie-rod end at the steering knuckle or center link using Puller C-3894-A. After that, remove the tie-rod sleeve clamp bolts and get the tie-rod end out of the sleeve. Insert the end of the tie-rod into the sleeve, then place it over the steering knuckle or center link by screwing it into place. Screw the nut tightened to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.) on the LD 9/16 ball stud or 102 Nm (75 ft. lbs.) on the HD 5/8 ball stud and finally attach a new cotter pin. With the supports gone, drop the vehicle down and change the toe angle of the wheels.
