  Start by removing the refrigerant from your A/C and cutting the power by taking off the negative Battery Cable. Unscrew the nut holding the suction and liquid line fitting on the stud on the A/C expansion valve and then detach both lines. Unscrew the fittings' seals and then fit plugs inside them or wrap tape around the opened fittings and both ports of the expansion valve. Remove the two bolts from the expansion valve to the evaporator tube tapping plate and take out the expansion valve. Remove the seals from the two sides of the evaporator tubing and again block them with plugs or tape, as well as the ports on the expansion valve. To install, remove the taping or plugs from the ends and exits of both the evaporator and expansion valve tubes on the back of the A/C system. Lubricate the new rubber O-ring seals with clean refrigerant oil and set them on the fittings of the evaporator inlet and outlet tubes. Place the A/C expansion valve onto the fittings and make sure it isn't moving, then tighten the two bolts to 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.). Open the tape or plugs on the fittings for liquid, suction and both expansion valves, grease the new rubber O-rings with oil, lubricate the seals on the suction and liquid line fittings and set them in place. Join the liquid line fitting and the suction line fitting to the A/C expansion valve after which you should fasten the nut on the stud with 10 Nm (89 in. lbs) of pressure. Replace the negative battery cable, get rid of the refrigerant and replenish the refrigerant.

  Before instaling the A/C expansion valve, check that the refrigerant oil is at the proper level to avoid A/C issues and risking the compressor. When you are replacing more than one component, look at the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart for proper oil quantities. Each time you remove the A/C expansion valve, always replace both line O-ring seals to stop any possible leaks. First, get rid of any tape or plugs in the refrigerant lines, the evaporator tube fittings and on the expansion valve ports. Apply lubrication from refrigerant oil to the new rubber O-ring seals and insert them on the clamps of the evaporator tubes. After that, connect the A/C expansion valve to the end of the evaporator tube tapping block using two bolts and tighten them to 6 Nm (53 in. lbs.). Insert new rubber O-ring seals on the refrigerant fittings, insert line, apply refrigerant oil and screw it back tight. Place the ends of the tube atop the underside of the valve and secure the A/C line retaining nut after that. Attach both A/C liquid and suction lines to the A/C expansion valve and secure them using a nut that you tighten to 6 Nm (53 in. lbs.) Join the negative Battery Cable back, drain the refrigerant from the system, top off the refrigerant oil, recharge the system and finish by installing the air cleaner housing.
