How to Safely Remove and Service a Fuel Pump Module on Dodge Sprinter 3500?

First, drain the fuel tank and then remove it to service and repair the fuel level sensor. Clean the surroundings of the pump module on the top of the tank very well. Remove all fuel lines from the fittings connected to the pump module. Remove the fuel tank locknut which is held in place by Special Tool #6856, to signal the fuel pump module to spring up slightly. Remove the front section a couple of inches to locate the float support arm/rod, while still protecting the float rod from bending. Turn the clip so the float rod comes out of the sensor, then twist the rod up slightly to take it out, all the while preventing the float assembly from slipping into the fuel tank. Grab the float rod and take the fuel pump module from the fuel tank, next come the float assembly. Lastly, take out and get rid of the rubber gasket that's in the pump module.
