Take out the negative battery terminal and connect nothing to it, then wait two minutes for the capacitor to stop working before anything else. On manual transmission vehicles, take off the shifter knob and boot, while on those with automatic transmissions, remove the knob and unsnap the shift indicator bezel. After that, unscrew the four mounting screws from the floor console and the parking brake lever, using the directions in the parking brake lever removal section. Following this, take the three mounting nuts out of the ORC, remove the connectors from the wire harness and lift the ORC up from the studs. Unplug the battery before installing the ORC, place it so the arrow is pointed at the center tunnel area mounting studs and then join the wire harness connector. Apply the three mounting nuts with a torque of 10 to 14 Nm (85 to 125 in. lbs.). Reattach the parking brake lever and fit the floor console, joining the two with the four attaching screws. The shift indicator bezel and shifter knob go back on the automatic transmission models, but for manual transmission models, you install the shifter boot and knob. You should not connect the battery negative cable remote terminal until the air bag system has been checked and confirmed.
