For servicing or fixing the starter motor, first open the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable. Hold the vehicle, cut the power to it, detach the electrical link from the O(2) sensor and remove the sensor. After that, undo the bolt on the front mount and remove the mount bracket from the engine block next. Separate the battery cable from the starter, then take out the lower bolt holding in place the starter and remove it. When installing, mount the starter to the transmission, then start and snug up the upper bolt and also snug up the lower bolt to stop it from shifting. Take out the upper bolt, join the battery cable and tighten the nut to 8.5 Nm (75 in. lbs.). Reattach the front mount to the bracket, placing the heat shield correctly and tighten both bolts to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.).
