Dodge Viper Clutch Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove a Clutch Master Cylinder on Dodge Viper?
    A:
Take apart the battery's negative cable as the first step before working on the Clutch Master Cylinder. Afterward, take off the vehicle and get rid of the left front wheel, plus the splash guard and resins around it. Remove the connector from the clutch pedal position switch, then take out the master cylinder actuation rod from the clutch pedal clip. After that, remove the anti-rotation pin in the toe box and throw it away. After taking out the fasteners on the clutch master cylinder fluid reservoir, separate the reservoir tube from the master cylinder and cap the reservoir, before plugging the tube. Remove the hydraulic line from the clutch bell housing by using Line Release 6638A to cut the quick connector. Cut away the tie strap holding the clutch hydraulic line to the chassis if it is needed. Pull back on the clutch master cylinder a quarter turn counterclockwise so you can remove it from the toe box and take the whole assembly out of the vehicle.
  • Q: How to Service a Clutch Master Cylinder on Dodge Viper?
    A:
Take off the clip on the master cylinder actuation rod from the clutch pedal first and then disconnect the clutch pedal position switch connector. Take the screws connecting the clutch fluid reservoir and unplug the hydraulic quick connector at the clutch bell housing using tool 6638. Always be careful not to let brake fluid touch painted areas on your car. Afterward, twist the clutch master cylinder a quarter of a turn toward you and remove it from the toe box, as well as the entire assembly from the vehicle. Removing the clutch master cylinder is the same as putting it back in.
