How to Service the A/C Switch on Jeep Cherokee?

Air bag systems must be disabled by temporarily unplugging the battery's negative wire, waiting two minutes, then plugging the wire back in to complete the service. Disconnect the battery negative cable, pull down the glove box and unplug the A/C Heater vacuum harness by pulling apart its two connections. Tear away the center bezel around the instrument panel and press in on the vacuum harness push-in retainer located at the bottom of the A/C Heater control. Release the A/C Heater control from the instrument panel by removing the four screws, then gently pull the assembly back to reach its connections. Disconnect the wire harness from the A/C Heater control and guide the vacuum harness as you draw the control out from the front. For installation, you should connect the wire harness, bring the vacuum harness through the dashboard opening and push the vacuum harness retainer back into place. Reconnect the severed half of the A/C Heater vacuum harness connector in the glove box, roll the glove box up, insert the A/C Heater control in the instrument panel and fasten it with four screws at 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Next, put the center bezel back on and clip the battery negative connection.
