How to Effectively Service and Repair an Antenna on Jeep Cherokee?

To begin service or repair on the antenna, disconnect and isolate the battery's negative cable first. Take out the right front fender inner splash shield. Pull the metal connectors of the antenna coaxial cable apart after reaching under the right end of the instrument panel and plug. Take the antenna mast out of the antenna body by unscrewing it. Disconnect the antenna cap nut and adapter by turning them with an antenna nut wrench, part number C-4816. Turn the antenna down through the top of the fender, reach into the rear of the right front fender wheel housing and then access the antenna body that way. Disconnect the coaxial cable grommet from the hole in the side panel and remove the coaxial cable from the cowl through that panel. Get rid of the antenna body and its connecting cable from inside the car. To install your antenna, use the original installation steps, tightening the antenna cap nut to 6.2 Nm (55 in. lbs.) and the antenna mast to 3.3 Nm (30 in. lbs.).
