Ease up the battery negative cable terminal clamp pinch-bolt hex nut and disconnect the negative cable from the battery terminal post, if needed, with a battery terminal puller. Do the same steps for the positive cable on the battery. Open the stud cover of the B(+) terminal at the PDC and release the battery positive and generator output cables from the nut on the B(+) terminal stud. Cut off the battery wire connector from the headlamp and the dash and release the screw that is attaching the battery's negative cable to the inner fender shield. For cars with air conditioning, pull the air conditioning system's compressor clutch wire harness connector off. Lift the cover from around the generator stud housing and remove the bolt that secures the generator wire terminal to the rod end at the generator. Remove the wire harness connector on the generator field terminal connector receptacle and take out the nut holding the battery negative cable ground eyelet terminal to the engine block stud. Take out the battery wire harness from the nearby engine area. Clean both the battery cable terminal clamps and battery posts, then attach the wire harness into the engine compartment. Reattach the battery wire harness connector with the starter housing solenoid, fit the battery positive cable eyelet onto the B(+) terminal stud and fasten the nut to 10 Nm (90 in. lbs.). Place the battery wire harness locator clip on the engine block and use a screw driven to 8.4 Nm (75 in. lbs.). Finally,join the battery negative cable ground eyelet terminal to the nut and tighten it to 15.8 Nm (140 in. lbs.). Put the battery wire harness connector in the generator field terminal connector, insert the output cable eyelet terminal into the generator output terminal stud and tighten the nut to 8.4 Nm (75 in. lbs.). Slide the cover for the generator output terminal stud housing into the right place and press to attach it. For those models that have air conditioning, reconnect the compressor clutch wire harness connector. Secure the negative cable eyelet terminal to the fender shield with an 8 mm screw tightened to 220 in. lbs./24.8 Nm and then reconnect the headlamp and dash wire harness connector. Place the positive cable terminal on the PDC B(+) terminals, screwing on the nut until it is tightened to 10.7 Nm (95 in. lbs.). Grab the stud cover on the B(+) terminal and attach the positive battery cable clamp to its correct post while tightening the pinch-bolt hex nut to 8.4 Nm (75 in. lbs.). Afterward, cover both the surface of the exposed battery clamps and the surfaces of the battery terminals with a thin coat of petroleum jelly or chassis grease.
