How is the Fuel Level Sensor Located, Removed, and Installed on Jeep Cherokee?

The fuel level sensor and float assembly can be found next to the fuel pump on the side of the fuel tank. You must take the fuel pump module out of the unit after you have switched off and removed the fuel tank. You can remove the sensor from the pump module by unplugging the electrical connector from the sensor terminals and pressing on the release tab. To fit the sensor, set it in place on the pump module and push down until it clicks, reconnect the wiring to its terminals and then add back the pump module and fuel tank.
