The clutch release bearing should be serviced and repaired by first removing the transmission. Loose the release bearing from the release lever then remove the race bearing from the cable guide. If the bearing slide surface on the front bearing retainer of the transmission looks scored, worn or cracked, replace the retainer. Look at the release fork and pivot to confirm the pivot is tight and in proper shape and make sure the fork is not damaged or bent. If the retainer spring is in a bent or broken condition, replace it. Before inserting the clutch disc hub into the engine, add a coating of Mopar high temperature bearing grease to a long shank, small diameter flat blade screwdriver and then use it to spread the grease on the crankshaft
Pilot Bearing. Coat the splines of the input shaft, the bearing retainer slide area, pivot point on the fork and the release fork pivot with Mopar high temperature grease. Installing the release bearing properly will mean you are able to correctly replace the transmission.
