How to Properly Handle a Vapor Canister Installation and Removal on a Jeep Cherokee?

The EVAP canister is found on the left under the vehicle, close to the front of the rear axle. You have to first remove the hoses from the EVAP canister, while noting their locations beforehand, in order to take out the EVAP canister. With the three nuts on the mounting bracket undone, take out the EVAP canister and bracket from the body. After that, loosen the two nuts that hold the canister to the bracket and separate them. When assembling, line up the canister with its bracket and check that the two canister dowel pins are at the rubber bushings. Fix the two canister nuts to the engine then tighten them to 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.) of torque. After that, slide the canister and bracket assembly back into the car and attach the three nuts. Tighten these to a torque of 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.). After that, link the vacuum hoses/lines again at the EVAP canister.
