Vapor Canister is an important part of the evaporative emissions systems known as EVAP and commonly found on different Jeep Commander models. This Vapor Canister is also crucial for restricting any outflow of hydrocarbons into the atmosphere because it holds fuel vapors coming from the fuel tank. During the engine running time, these vapors are exhausted into the engine, which helps to obtain the clean air/fuel mixture. Jeep Vapor Canister comes in universal designs that can fit various Jeep Commander types such as XK type and 2022 Jeep Commander to guarantee that its consumers will experience better efficiency and safety. In particular, the contemporary models of the Vapor Canister include a canister vent solenoid and fuel tank pressure sensor that are aimed at determining leaks and the most efficient performance. Not only that it reduces pollutants but it also enhances the engine performances making Jeep Commander to be one of the best deals in the automotive industry. However, the extra feature available in some versions of the Vapor Canister is a replaceable filter more adding to its uses. Thanks to its great structure, materials, and improvements on the technology that is integrated into this equipment, the Vapor Canister is a living representation of Jeep's environmental responsibility and performance heritage in being an essential component that makes the Jeep Commander brand superior and more enjoyable to drive.

Jeep Commander Vapor Canister Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Attach a Vapor Canister to the NVLD Pump on Jeep Commander?
    A:
Before installing the NVLD pump to the EVAP canister, put a new o-ring onto the canister. With the pump, insert the piece that has the tab into the notched part of the EVAP canister and rotate the pump until they properly fit. After that, slip the canister into the mounting bracket and tighten the two nuts attached to it. After that, attach the canister or pump assembly onto the body and bolt on and tighten each of the three mounting brackets. Cover every vapor/vacuum line going to the NVLD pump and EVAP canister with tubing glue or hose clamps to ensure there are no leaks after you install them. Inspect the vapor/vacuum lines at the NVLD pump, filter and EVAP canister purge solenoid, because a leak might result in a Diagnostic Trouble Code. Connect the pump's electrical connector, fit the splash shield at the back of the left-rear tire and then put on the tire.
  • Q: How to Remove and Install a Vapor Canister with an NVLD Pump on Jeep Commander?
    A:
The Evaporative System Vapor Canister, found behind the left-rear tire in the left-rear quarter-panel, attaches to the Natural Vacuum Leak Detection (NVLD) pump. Before removing the assembly, raise the vehicle and pull off the rear left tire. Remove the rear left-rear tire's plastic splash shield to get to the EVAP canister or NVLD pump. Remove the electrical connection at the pump before you carefully remove the vapor/vacuum hoses. Undo the three bracket-to-body nuts on the back of the motor and take off the canister by removing the two front nuts and pulling it away from its mounting bracket which you can do by removing the two alignment pins from the grommets. Pry the tab out from the NVLD pump and turn the pump clockwise about 70 degrees to remove it, then remove the O-ring from the EVAP canister. Slide the new O-ring onto the canister, push the pump into the canister and twist the pump until the tab fits into the notch in the canister. Then, fit the canister into the bracket and put a nut on each of the canister's threaded holes. Fit the canister/pump assembly to the body and secure each final bracket to the body with its three mounting nuts. Attach the vapor/vacuum lines to both the NVLD pump and EVAP canister and check carefully for any leak or damage along these hoses or at the components nearby. After that, connect the electrical wire to the pump, replace the splash shield on the rear of the left-rear tire and put the tire back in place.
