In the engine area, put the battery cables into place and screw in the pushpins, fasteners and routing clips one at a time to make sure everything is where it should be. Attach the battery cable to the B+ terminal of the starter motor, apply 13 Nm (115 in. lbs.) of torque to the cable nut and attach the cable to the B+ terminal of the generator, securing it with 14 Nm (125 in. lbs.) of torque. Attach the negative cable to the body ground stud, then tighten it with nut 1 to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.). You should be aware that connecting your battery cables backward can damage the vehicle, so always check the cable locations on both types of vehicles. After you connect the battery's (+) positive cable, move on to the negative cable 5 and tighten the cable nuts to 5 Nm (45 in, lbs.).
