Brake Master Cylinder in Jeep compass cars is an essential part of Brake system which convert the pressure of foot to hydraulic pressure to control the brake. It works through hydraulically propelling fluid through the system to either the calipers or the drums to create enough friction that will halt the car. Usually fixed on the vacuum power booster, the Brake Master Cylinder comes with an integrated or separate fluid tank and the dual circuit design that will enable one circuit to work even if the other one is not working. Throughout the years, Jeep Compass models have come with variations concerning the Brake Master Cylinder, the only noticable difference has been the material in which the casing was made from- cast iron or aluminium and the reservoir setup. Sooner or later the similarities and differences between them become apparent - how they are made and how they can leak, which may lower performance. To avoid getting into problems like internal leakage or even corrosion in the Brake Master Cylinder, it is proved that, proper maintenance is crucial for the vehicles of Jeep Compass to carry out their operations more effectively.

Jeep Compass Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove and Replace a Brake Master Cylinder on Jeep Compass?
    A:
It is important to pump the vacuum in the power Brake Booster down before removing or replacing the brake master cylinder and you do this by pushing the brake pedal a few times with the engine off. Cut off the black cable from the battery and remove it from the circuit. After that, take out the connection on the brake fluid level switch in the master cylinder brake fluid reservoir. Take out the tubes at the master cylinder and put caps or plugs in each remaining tube outlet. When the automobile's transaxle is manual, go ahead and take off the clamp, so you can pull the hose off of the reservoir port. Spray or pour a suitable brake cleaner around the master cylinder attachment to the booster. Next, pull out the two nuts from the master cylinder bolts and slide the master cylinder right off the power brake booster.
  • Q: How to Install and Bleed a Brake Master Cylinder on Jeep Compass?
    A:
You must bleed the brake master cylinder before you can install it. Bench bleed the brake master cylinder to start, then carefully clean the booster's face, where the brake master cylinder vac tube touches during regular braking. Set a new vacuum seal (2) into the brake master cylinder flange (1) or, if you take off the old seal, make sure the new one is fitted firmly inside its groove. Should the booster or brake master cylinder resist movement during the procedure, stop and make sure the two push rods are correctly lined up before doing anything else. Bring the brake master cylinder holes together with the mounted bosses on the power Brake Booster to ensure correct push rod alignment and slide the cylinder onto the bracket so the body of the cylinder touches the booster surface. Internally mount the brake master cylinder using two new mounting nuts (3) and turn them in until they reach 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) of torque. On cars with a manual transaxle and a new reservoir, go to the center of the "V" groove (2) and sever the clutch actuator port, allowing the hydraulic clutch port (1) to be used and throwing away the removed piece (3). Fit the actuator hose (2) onto the reservoir hole (1) and add the hose clamp. Connect the brake master cylinder outlet ports to both brake tubes, make sure their nuts are tightened to 17Nm and attach the wiring harness connector (1) to the brake fluid level switch (2). Always use a reservoir blocker (1) to keep the fluid reservoir (2) from causing fires in case of an accident; take it off by pressing down on the tab (3), then place the blocker around the neck of the reservoir and gently close it to latch onto the sides. Reattach the ground cable from the battery and put the brake master cylinder reservoir to the required level. Make sure the brake pedal response is safe and proper before starting the car; if not, drain the brake system and look for any leaks. Before anything, review the brake system by testing the brakes on the road.
