How to Maintain the Second Row Center Seat Belt on Jeep Compass?

Check the entire belt section in the second row center seat carefully, making sure the seat belts, buckles, mounts, retractors, tether straps and anchors are all working properly and do not have visible damage. Seat belts that are cut or frayed should be replaced, twisted ones should be straightened, all loose bolts tightened and all damaged buckles, retractors, latch plates and anchor plates should be avoided by taking or giving passengers another seat. Remove the screw securing the seat belt turning loop to the right D-pillar on top, then the screw holding the retractor to the lower quarter inner panel and lastly remove the second row central seat belt and retractor unit from that panel.

How to Service and Repair a Front Seat Belt Safely on Jeep Compass?

Turn off the SRS before servicing the front seat belt and retractor by disabling the battery and waiting for two minutes. Make sure to review every seat belt, buckle, mounting attachment, retractor, strap and anchor for damage or if their setup or use looks incorrect and change any that appear harmed. Push the front seat as far back as it will go to reach the front seat belt lower anchor cover and the B-pillar trim. Uncover the lower anchor on the outside end of the seat by unsnapping it from the front seat's outside shield, then unscrew the screw attaching the anchor to the frame. Hold the lower end of the trim cover at the upper B-pillar, pull it straight out, then roll the bottom of the cover up and pull outward to separate the tab. Unscrew the seat belt turning loop and slide it off the height adjuster. Pull out the lower end of the seat belt turning loop and lower anchor through the hole in the lower B-pillar trim. Break the clips that are securing the belt web guide to the B-pillar and take out the screw that holds the retractor lower bracket to the inner B-pillar. Pull the retractor away from the B-pillar so you can disconnect the yellow body wire harness from the seat belt tensioner initiator. Near the bottom of the retractor, separate the body wire harness connector from the seat belt switch receptacle on the driver's side. Last, take out the front seat belt and retractor in one piece from the car.
